Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What is SouqData?

SouqData is a GCC corporate governance intelligence platform covering 1,937 companies across 11 stock exchanges in the Middle East and North Africa. We aggregate public data from exchange filings, annual reports, and regulatory publications, then process it through 94 analytics engines to provide governance scores, Shariah screening, director intelligence, and more.

Is it free?

Yes, the Free tier provides limited access to company profiles, basic financials, and governance scores at no cost. For full access to all analytics, the AI copilot, API, and advanced features, we offer Professional ($49/mo) and Enterprise ($199/mo) plans.

What exchanges do you cover?

We cover 11 exchanges: Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), Boursa Kuwait (BK), Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE), Muscat Securities Market (MSX), Bahrain Bourse (BHB), Saudi Tadawul (TDWL), Borsa Istanbul (BIST), Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX), and Egyptian Exchange (EGX).

How often is data updated?

Stock prices are updated daily. News and announcements are scanned every 30 minutes. Annual report data and governance scores are updated annually as companies publish their filings. Financial metrics from quarterly earnings are updated as they become available.

Data & Methodology

Where does the data come from?

All data is sourced from publicly available sources: exchange filings, Yahoo Finance, company annual reports, and regulatory publications. We do not use proprietary or paid data feeds. For full details on our data sources and coverage, see the Data Sources page.

How are governance scores calculated?

Our governance scoring uses an 8-component weighted model that evaluates board composition, independence, attendance, committee structure, disclosure quality, and more. The full methodology is disclosed on the Governance Risk insight page.

What is the AI copilot?

The AI copilot is a 124-tool research assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. You can ask questions in English or Arabic about any GCC-listed company and get answers backed by real data from our database. It can screen stocks, compare companies, analyse governance, and generate research briefs.

Is Shariah screening reliable?

Our Shariah screening is based on AAOIFI Standard No. 21 and uses quantitative financial ratio tests where data is available. However, our screening is not a fatwa and should not be treated as a definitive religious ruling. Always consult a qualified Shariah scholar for investment decisions requiring religious compliance.
